First indoor velodrome in Southeast Asia

The Malaysian National Velodrome (Velodrom Nasional Malaysia) is a state-of-the-art sporting facility located in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. It is the first indoor velodrome in Southeast Asia, replacing the 28-year-old Velodrome Rakyat in Ipoh, Perak, and the 30-year-old Cheras Velodrome in Kuala Lumpur, which will be demolished for commercial development. The new velodrome serves as the nation’s track cycling hub.

 Gruppe’s role involved designing and coordinating the construction process to ensure safety throughout every sequence.

Gruppe was appointed by MIESB Sdn. Bhd. as the designer of the long-span roof structure and the third-party checker for structural integrity. Gruppe’s role involved designing and coordinating the construction process to ensure safety throughout every sequence. Given the challenging nature of the long-span structure, the erection methodology played a crucial role in completing the tasks. The design phase took approximately three months, while the erection process spanned over six months.
